This page explains the importance and role of Libraries used in Portals and Content Templates.
The preparation for creating a Portal or a Content Template begins with creating a Library. A Library is a standalone asset collection that is sourced from CELUM Content.
For more information on Libraries and how to create and configure them, see Get started with Libraries.
In connection with a Content Template, a Library serves as the source for all assets that can be used to create content in a Content Template.
A Library connected to a Portal is used to define the content and metadata of the Portal. In connection with a Portal, a Library serves as the source for the following:
All assets within the Portal.
Assets used in the design themes of Portals.
The metadata of assets in the asset gallery widget:
The metadata itself is used for facets.
The values of the metadata are represented by facet values inside the facets.
The search engine of the Portal search bar also uses these metadata.
The variants (file formats) of assets available for download through the Portal. For more information, see Variant types.
Whenever you add a Library/Libraries to a Portal an initial update of assets will be made. Indicators of the ongoing initial update:
The Portal
tile will indicate that the initial update is being processed by displaying
a loading spinner:
If the spinner icon persists for a long time it might indicate that there are faulty assets in the filter scope, like preview images that could not be generated. If you experience this, contact CELUM support.
A snackbar will be displayed that your assets are being prepared.
The amount of time required for the process may vary depending on the following:
The number of Libraries added to the Portal.
The number and size of the assets being updated.
The availability of assets in a connected Library.
Freshly created Libraries need time to import the assets defined by the saved filter.
After the initial update is done a snackbar will indicate whether it was successful or not. Regular updates for your assets will be done automatically and continuously between your Portal and the dedicated Library or Libraries after this initial update without any notifications.
