Update the CELUM Drive desktop app

Depending on how CELUM Drive was installed, there are multiple ways to update it to the latest version.

Manually update the CELUM Drive app if you have administrator rights

In case of breaking changes or when the automatic update doesn't work, you can complete the update to the latest version manually. A pop-up window in the relevant version in CELUM Drive app will inform you of this.

To complete the update manually, follow the steps outlined:

Download the latest CELUM Drive installation file (.exe or .dmg) from hub.celum.cloud, or via the "Download" button in the pop-up window in the CELUM Drive desktop app older version.
Clean up the old CELUM Drive desktop app version by uninstalling it and removing any leftover assets. This step is necessary so that the new installation of the CELUM Drive desktop app works correctly.
Install the latest version of the CELUM Drive desktop app on your machine.

Automatically update the CELUM Drive desktop app if you have administrator rights

If you have installed the CELUM Drive desktop app via the .exe or .dmg installation file, it includes an automatic update service which takes care of installing the new version of the application.

When a new mandatory update is available, the CELUM Drive desktop app shows you an overlay:

Click "Update" in the overlay and lean back while the update service installs the newest version. After the installation is complete, you just need to manually restart CELUM Drive.

After the update, the CELUM Drive desktop app may need a few seconds to start up and will show you a loading mask. Please don't close the application while the loading mask is displayed.

You can also download CELUM Drive installer from the CELUM Work application and install it manually. Just execute the installer and the older version of the CELUM Drive desktop app will be removed automatically and replaced by the newly downloaded version.

System administrator updates the CELUM Drive desktop app if you don't have administrator rights

If CELUM Drive desktop app was installed via the .msi installer (on Windows), you will get informed by CELUM Drive when a new version can be installed (optional update) or must be installed (required update). In case of an optional update, you can continue using the app. In case of a required update, the synchronisation gets stopped and you cannot work with the app until the update is complete.

In either case, please contact your company's system administrator who can install the newest version of CELUM Drive desktop app and its icon overlay and context menu handlers on your system.
